When Truth Is Known but Resisted

These verses from Sūrah al-Anʾām focus on Allāh’s authority, the truth of revelation, and the response of those who reject it. Imām al-Qurṭubī explains that Allāh is dominant over His servants, wise in His command, and fully aware of their actions. He then treats the Qur’an as a witness to the Prophet’s truthfulness and as a warning that applies to everyone it reaches.

The tafsīr then turns to the problem of recognizing truth and still refusing it. Al-Qurṭubī describes this refusal as a form of self-loss that leads to false claims, denial, and excuses. By the Day of Judgment, those claims fail, the supposed partners disappear, and people are confronted with the truth they had resisted.
